Don't Wait for Everyone Else!

Don't wait for everyone else in your fellowship to get on fire for God. How many times have we been guilty of sitting sedately in fellowship, content in our own salvation, and not seeking to be fruitful in the Lord? Do you know what is going to happen to such people? Here's a clue:

Every branch in me that bears not fruit he takes away: and every branch that bears fruit, he purges it, that it may bring forth more fruit ... (John 15:2)

The heros of faith who we find in the Bible are people who stepped away from the crowds and decided they were going to be triumphant in God no matter what everyone else did.

Look at David. Did he wait for the rest of the Israelite army to go fight Goliath? No. Everybody else in the kingdom was scared to fight Goliath (1 Samuel 17:24). So, David decided to go forth without them. But, he was even met with opposition from his own brother and his king (1 Samuel 17:28, 33). He still wasn't discouraged. When he faced Goliath, he said to him with unflinching courage:

"You come to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, who you have deviled. This day will the Lord deliver you into my hand; and I will smite you, and take your head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saves not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give you into our hands!" (1 Samuel 17:45-47)

After that message, Goliath started toward David. Do you know what David did? He RAN toward the Philistine army to fight Goliath. He took him down in no time flat.

I'm sure there was a few seconds of complete and utter shock that both the Israelite and Philistine armies experienced. Then, when everyone realized that the "youth"(v. 33) had beaten the mighty warrior Goliath, the Philistines fled (v. 51) and the Israelites "shouted and pursued the Philistines" (v.52). It took one person to start a mighty, victorious revival in Israel. A young sheep herder!

Don't sit and wait for the rest of your fellowship to get victory. You can start it yourself. Don't wait for everyone else to start fasting, you start it. Don't wait for everyone else to start praying for revival, you do it. Don't wait for the others to start worshipping the Lord and praising him outrageously in your gatherings -- you do it! It only takes one person who can believe God for victory to get the rest of your church fighting and winning the victory also.

There are many examples of one person making the difference in scripture. There was Gideon, Abraham, Moses, Noah, Elijah, Esther, Ruth, Rahab, Jael, and more.

We can't use the excuse that nobody else is interested in revival. Because it's been proven that one person can start a revival. The two most powerful tools is prayer and fasting. But, don't think that Satan will not try to dissuade you from fasting and prayer. He will try to block you, tempt you, and discourage you in any way he can. But, hang tough, keep your eyes on the Lord Jesus and prevail. No one likes to fast (in the flesh), but it is a mighty tool to bringing down strongholds.

Don't wait for everyone else to be a catalyst for the work of the Lord. All it takes is unshakable faith and the stamina in the Lord Jesus to fight to the finish.
