"Interceding in the Spirit"

A lot of times we want to do the grand and glorious things that stand out in our churches. But one of the most important jobs that we can do for the Lord is pray, especially when we pray in the Spirit and let the Spirit intercede through us.

The other night, I was "antsy." It was a Saturday evening. The evening was mine to relax any way that I wanted. But, I had an uneasiness in my Spirit. I really felt a very strong urge to pray. I went in my bedroom to pray, and it wasn't long until I started weeping. I started wailing, and another language came pouring out of my mouth very quickly. The wailing was so hard that it actually hurt me to pray. What was I praying about? I really have no idea. I just had an heaviness in my heart for no apparent reason.

If we will be sensitive to the Lord's Spirit, we can be used by Him. We may not always understand, but it is a great feeling to be used of the Lord for service to Him.

"Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Romans 8:26-28

Don't ever think that you have an unimportant job for God if you are praying and interceding for others. Actually, you have a very great task and an important one in His kingdom. Be open to Him using you to intercede in the Spirit. It's a wonderful and fulfilling service to the Lord.

Sometimes even in a church gathering I will start crying in the Spirit. Sometimes I think people must wonder, "Boy, that saint must really be going through a tough time!" Actually, I won't even know why I'm crying at times. I just am overcome by a Spirit of heaviness, and I start praying in the Spirit. I just hope and pray that I am being of use in the Lord's kingdom.

Let me clarify, sometimes, I do know what I'm praying about in the Spirit, or I have an idea -- but, not always. Let's all just be open to His Spirit through our Lord Jesus Christ. Remember, "The kingdom of God is not in word, but in power!" 1 Corinthians 4:20
