The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. Jeremiah 17:9,10

He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely he shall be delivered. Proverbs 28:26

These scriptures are so powerful. God wants us to look to Him and trust Him. He knows all the best ways to do anything in our lives. The scriptures are jam-packed with lessons and wisdom to keep us safe. He's our Father and he wants us to turn to Him to help us get through every event in our life. But, when we ignore His guidance and seek to figure out life on our own, we make big mistakes. On our own, we are wicked and unwise. On our own, we commit murders, fornications, all sorts of evil deeds -- because we think we know the best way to get things done. There's not much more to say about these scriptures; they speak volumes with no need for commentary.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. Proverbs 3:5-8
