"And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever ... I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you." John 14:16, 18

One of the greatest treasures that God gives to his people is His comfort. No matter what has happened in your life, you can go to Him in prayer and He will comfort you if you ask Him to -- no matter how big or little your problem or trial may be. He understands us better than we understand ourselves, and He can calm your fears and ease the pain.

"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." 1 Peter 5:7

Can you believe it? Someone who wants you to give Him all your cares? And His help is free.

He's not only available to help you in time of need with His comforting Spirit, but He can lead you and guide you with that same Spirit.

"But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." John 14:26-27

All you have to do is talk to Him like you're talking to your best friend. If you feel funny talking to Him out loud, talk to Him in your heart. He can give you peace and guide you to the answers to all your questions. He will give you comfort that no one else can give. Give it a try. He will be found of anyone who really wants to find Him.

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." Psalm 23:4

"Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side." Psalm 71:21

"In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul." Psalm 94:19

"Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God." Isaiah 40:1

"Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for Yahweh hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted." Isaiah 49:13

"I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass; And forgettest Yahweh thy maker, that hath stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and hast feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy? and where is the fury of the oppressor?" Isaiah 51:12-13

"To proclaim the acceptable year of Yahweh, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;" Isaiah 61:2

"As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem." Isaiah 66:13

"Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4

"Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied." Acts 9:31

"Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Yeshua Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;" 2 Corinthians 1:3

"Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." 2 Corinthians 1:4

He wants to comfort you. He is the Great Comforter. I know this from first-hand experience. I've went to Him and had problems, forgetting that he was (and is) the Great Comforter. Then after I've been praying, I realize that He has comforted me without me even being aware of it.

Just pour out your heart to Him and see if He won't be the Great Comforter to you.
